It’s painful, but it’s not hopeless.
That was the message of Seth Meyer’s Late Night speech on Wednesday. Not afraid of expressing some still-raw feelz, the show’s host spoke about how excited three generations of his family were to see America inaugurate it’s first female president. But here we are.
With tears in his eyes, Meyers was clear to give audiences a message of hope, and especially, he hoped he’d be as wrong about Trump as president as he’d been about him in the past.
“I felt a lot of emotions last night and into today,” Meyers said. “Some sadness, some anger, some fear. But I’m also aware that those are the same emotions a lot of Trump supporters felt, emotions that led them to make their choice, and it would be wrong for me to think my emotions are somehow more authentic than their emotions.” Read more…
