Don’t worry, America. Australia’s here to comfort you on Election Day with our questionable meat products.

Eating a “democracy sausage,” otherwise known as a barbecued sausage with burnt onions on a slice of white bread, is a sacred Australian election day tradition.

The cheap sandwich is offered at almost every polling station whenever Australians vote — a compulsory act for every citizen, and thankfully, always held on the weekend.
